Blue Green Algae

Can we just talk about blue green algae for a minute? If you follow me on Snapchat, (Colieolieoh)  you have seen me post it many times..

I know this looks weird and disgusting.. But it's really just like taking a wheat grass shot.

I take this E3Live BrainOn every morning.. I keep it in my freezer, and when I wake up, take it out to thaw a little bit, pour a shot and down the hatch it goes!

I first heard about this miracle shot from The Skinny Confidential.. Even British royalty are taking it..
It provides 65 vitamins, minerals, amino acids, and essential fatty acids.. and it is the richest source of chlorophyll.
That is all great.. but THIS is what really got me..

“As stated by the largest and most extensive study, blue green algae AFA has been proven to increase immune cell migration– the process which gets them where they are needed. One particular double blind human study revealed that within two hours of eating blue green algae AFA, 40% of the circulating natural killer cells were triggered to move from the blood to the tissues. Natural killer cells are especially known for finding virally infected cells, including cancer cells, and killing them. NO OTHER NATURAL SUBSTANCE is known to trigger such a movement of NK cells in the body. Further research MAY prove that eating a small amount of blue green algae AFA every day could assist in the prevention of cancer and viral infections.”

Read more about it here, via BlenderBabes.com

AND.. come to find out.. this E3Live brand, is local and harvests its algae right from Klamath Lake! How cool is that?!

Go check out E3Live, and all of their amazing products!
Also, if you are local.. I get mine from Shop N Kart in Ashland.

Greek Yogurt Banana Bread

I love banana bread, but i'm trying to eat healthy and clean as much as possible.. so this recipe has greek yogurt, oat flour, whole wheat flour, coconut oil, and agave syrup.. You could also substitute the agave syrup with honey, or your preferred sweetener. I also threw a handful of dark chocolate chips in to help satisfy my sweet tooth.

Ingredients
1/2 cup greek yogurt
1 egg + 1 egg yolk
1/2 cup coconut oil
1 teaspoon vanilla extract (homemade recipe here)
1 cup mashed bananas
3/4 cup agave syrup or honey
1/3 cup old fashioned oats
1 cup whole wheat flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 tablespoon cocoa powder (optional)
Dark chocolate chips (optional)

Directions
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a bread pan and set aside.
2. In a bowl mix greek yogurt, egg, egg yolk, vanilla extract, mashed bananas, and agave syrup.
3. In a food processor, blend oats until it resembles flour.
4. Add oat flour, wheat flour, salt, baking soda, and cocoa powder (optional) to the bowl of ingredients. Mix until combined. Add chocolate chips (optional), and fold batter to incorporate.
5. Transfer batter into prepared bread pan and bake for about 55 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean. Remove from oven and allow to cool on a cooling rack.

Coffee Talk // No. 2

What products would you recommend to get rid of sun and age spots?
I love to do a peel every week. The one I use is Dr. Dennis Gross alpha beta peel in extra strength. (Buy here for the 5 pack, or here for the 30 pack). It's just two steps and takes two minutes. It's key ingredients include Glycolic acid, Lactic acid, Malic acid, Salicylic acid, and retinol. And make sure you wear your sunscreen the next day, because it makes your skin extra sensitive to the sun! Also, in combination with the peels I would start a regimen of dermaplaning.

What brand are your swimsuits in your Instagram photos?
I'm obsessed with Mikoh swimwear! That's all I wear.. My pink one is the Kahala, here. The rest are so old they're not even on the website anymore. I love them because they are tag less and seam free so they are so comfortable! Check out Mikoh Swimwear here.  (I have the Seychelles one piece in blue, size L, never worn, without tags that I'm selling.. So email me if you're interested in buying!)

What's your favorite mascara?
I rarely wear mascara anymore because I have lash extensions, but after trying both drugstore mascaras and designer mascaras, my favorite would have to be the Diorshow by Dior. Everything about it is amazing from the brush, to no little-black-flakes under your eyes. Definitely worth the price!

What brand/style are your big tortoise sunglasses?
I know I ALWAYS wear them.. I have so many other good sunglasses, but these are just my babies haha. They are Celine, Style CL 41076/S in the color Havana. You can snag them here

What book are you reading now?
I'm about halfway done with Grey by E L James. I read all the 50 Shades Of Grey books when they came out, but never read this one. It reminds me how good those books were!

I want a big straw hat but don't want to spend a fortune. Suggestions?
This one from Forever 21 is under $15. American Eagle has this straw panama hat for under $20. ASOS has this one for $26, or this Brixton hat is $44.

Cucumber Vodka Sodas

With summer just around the corner, it's back to drinking vodka soda's for me.
Being in a bathing suit all the time, I don't want that belly bloat from beer or all the extra sugar from wine.. and a dirty vodka martini just isn't pool side friendly. So here is a very yummy and simple recipe I made last week.

Let's just say, it did not last long!

Cheers!

Ingredients
1 1/2 cups fresh cucumber juice
1/2 cup fresh squeezed lime juice
1/2 cup vodka
1 to 2 cups club soda
Crushed ice
Lime and cucumber slices for garnishing

Directions
1. Combine cucumber juice, lime juice, vodka, and club soda in a large pitcher.
2. Pour mixture over ice, and garnish with lime and cucumber slices.

Coffee Body Scrub

This homemade scrub is great for exfoliating away dead skin cells,
and the caffeine in the coffee grounds improves circulation,
and will firm and tighten..

Buh-bye cellulite!

This will leave your skin fresh, and glowing!

Ingredients
1 tablespoon brown sugar
Coconut oil
1/4 cup organic coffee grinds

Directions
Mix brown sugar and coffee grinds. Add in coconut oil until you've created a paste like consistency.
In the shower, massage using upward motions. Leave on 5 minutes, then rinse.

For best results, dry brush beforehand.. You can find my how-to here.

3-0

This weekend I'm saying goodbye to my 20's and hello to 30!

People keep telling me 'Your 30's are the best years of your life!'.

Looking back on my 20's.. It's been crazy to say the least. I've learned SO MUCH about myself, who I am, and what I want.
I've had the most amazing times of my life.. And the worst times of my life. But I wouldn't change anything. All those experiences have made me grow, and have made me into the person I am today.

Cheers to 30!
